After a new firmware was released and restraining order placed against Geohot we would think that the Sony PlayStation 3 was safe from hackers that want to jailbreak it, but the war between Sony and hackers has just been further extended.

Although the new firmware 3.56 for PlayStation 3 is here, Sony has been proven the fact that it doesn’t take long for the hacking community to break it. In fact, it took less than 24 hours for hackers to break the latest firmware and obtain the security keys. The one behind this hack is an infamous Wii hacker, Youness Alaoui, also known as KaKaRoToKS, and so far, no charges have been pressed against him.

As you know, 3.56 brings a minor update that adds a security patch, and it also features a new encryption key that is capable of wiping out all current homebrew functionality. Due to this, owners of a jailbroken 3.55 PS3 are advised to skip the latest firmware update.

lol. This was very clear and obvious that it was going to happen. I'm sure Sony knew people would be ready and waiting for that firmware update so they can break through again. If Sony doesn't charge Youness Alaoui with the same charges Geohot is getting, they will just put the confidence back into hackers who lost faith when Geohot got officially hit with the TRO and ordered by the court to give them his computers.

This story is like dejavu all over again. I recall a time on PlayStation Home, where only a few hackers had exclusive items from other regions. When word got out, Sony took action and banned those people. Weeks later 100s of more people started getting those same items on their account. At this point it was out of Sonys hands and once the ban was lifted on the hackers, more hacking took place. Nothing about this could have been done in terms of more banning so they worked hard on a patch, then hackers worked hard on another method.

The point I'm trying to make it... This will be a continuous war between Company and Hacker and nothing is really going to end the war. The war has been going on for years actually, it's just recently that its become more public.
