News Hacker group Anonymous not responsible for PSN takedown?

Post by SPADEZ Fri Apr 22, 2011 12:05 pm

Hacker group Anonymous claims to have no part in the PSN going down recently:

Hacker group Anonymous not responsible for PSN takedown? Notus

    source

“While it could be the case that other Anons have acted by themselves, AnonOps was not related to this incident,” it says.

They have also said this on there Facebook page:

The PlayStation outage affects 70 million registered PlayStation 3 and PSP users who use the cloud-based network to access downloadable games, movies and other media. It also connects players for multi-player games like Call of Duty. People who are subscribe to games like DC Universe Online, who pay a service fee to use the game are screwed from getting into the game at all. PlayStation Home, MAG and many other games are no accessible during this downtime as all of those games require access to the PSN.

Wtf?..that facebook message contradicts that initial message where they denied responsibility..

"We have no qualms about our actions..?"

Did they have something to with it or not?..

I did notice that too. Seems like they're saying they are responsible for PSN going down, but at which moment is the question. They could have been referring to the first time PSN went down and they are just saying they have no remorse for their past actions. It's not exactly clear. Both sides of the spectrum seem to be misleading or leaving out information.

First Sony says there servers were attacked by a 3rd party source. Then Sony says the problem was in Japan and Japanese engineers are working on the problem. Then Anonymous says they aren't responsible and that Sony doesn't want to admit its their own internal problems with their servers. Now Sony is saying it was an "external intrusion" as seen here:

The story keeps getting flipped, switched, reversed and confusing... I guess we have no choice but to wait it out and stay updated on whats really going on here.

Well, if it came down to a choice between believing Sony ..or a pack of illogical, dim-witted Hackers..

I think I'd have to believe what Sony is saying is the truth. Yeah, they are being hacked by "someone"

    **rolls eyes**

And that someone is most likely "Anonymous".. I mean, i never thought anything they did in the past made any sense. But now.. what purpose or goal would they even have to attain by attacking Sony now? The whole geohot thing is over. But probably their goal is just trying to piss as much people off , for as long as they possilbly can, without being arrested.

I guess what i'm trying to say is whoever is hacking PSN has taken Retarded to a new degree of Low

Hm, well lol, I don't think this instance is quite like the last attack anonymous did. See, i think Anonymous didn't actually hurt Sony per-se... BUT someone was caught fiddling around in their PSN system (..probably looking for a way to hurt Sony somehow without hurting the customers **rolls eyes**...) And whoever was in their system got detected by Sony before they could get any information or whatever.
Sony, being its usual paranoid self, shut down all psn servers in the world ( i think ) to try and protect themselves. Since I think i heard Japan might be working again i also think they found out only the US one had the security vulnerability. So yeah, in that regards, its kinda of true both ways from Sony's perspective. Yes, they were hacked by a third-party. Yes, the reason they were hacked is because someone at Sony wasn't doing their job to protect the PSN ( or they helped let the hackers in.. )
The reason why I think its Anonymous is because no one is stupid enough to snoop inside Sony's PSN except for Anonymous. In this day and age, just because someone is smart enough to hack a corporate website and jailbreak a ps3 doesn't meant that they are a smart person. And it definitely doesn't make them Honest people at that. (AKA Dont believe anything that comes out of their mouth lol )
