As the notorious hacker group 'Anonymous' stated, "Now you will experience the wrath of Anonymous." PSN will undergo more and more downtime as a result of Anonymous attacking Sonys servers until there demands are met. So as this war between Hackers & Sony continues to get heavier, we, the civilians in this matter, shall end up casualities, as in any war.
I'm going to attempt to break down Anonymous message and see if I can make sense of what they are trying to say and do here...
- Congratulations, Sony. You now have now received the undivided attention of Anonymous. Your recent legal action against our follow hackers, Geohot and Graf_Chokolo, has not only alarmed us, it has been deemed wholly unforgivable.”
The case between Sony and Geohot has been brewing since the beginning of 2011 and only gets more intense. The internet has gone crazy with comments about this case both in favor of Geohots actions and against his actions. It was bound to happen that more hackers will step in and take a stand for what is happening here, and then came Anonymous.
- You have now abused the judicial system in an attempt to censor information on how your products work. You have victimised your own customers merely for possessing and sharing information, and continue to target every person who seeks this information. In doing so you have violated the privacy of thousands. This is the information they were willing to teach the world for free. The very same information you wish to suppress for sake of corporate greed and complete control of the users.
Now you will experience the wrath of Anonymous. You saw a hornets nest, and stuck your p*nises in it. You must face the consequences of your actions, Anonymous style.
Anonymous is saying that Sony has censored information that should be our right to know, thus, abusing the system in an unconstitutional manner. Every person who tries to understand and seek this information is being victimised by Sony. Sony does this by violating the privacy of everyone attempting to seek information by obtaining the IP address of everyone who has uploaded, watched, commented, donated, etc... on anything involving these hacks on the PS3 and Geohot. This means if you uploaded a Youtube video about this, you IP address has probably been demanded to be handed over to Sony from Youtube.
- A federal magistrate is granting Sony the right to acquire the internet IP addresses of anybody who has visited PlayStation 3 hacker George Hotz’s website from January of 2009 to the present.
- Sony also won subpoenas (.pdf) for data from YouTube and Google, as part of its lawsuit against the 21-year-old New Jersey hacker, as well as Twitter account data linked to Hotz, who goes by the handle GeoHot.
- The judge also signed off on a Google subpoena seeking the logs for Hotz’s Blogger.com blog, geohotps.3.blogspot.com.
- A YouTube subpoena, also approved, seeks information connected to the “geohot” account that displayed a video of the hack being used: “Jailbroken PS3 3.55 with Homebrew.” The subpoena demands data to identify who watched the video and “documents reproducing all records or usernames and IP addresses that have posted or published comments in response to the video.”

As a result of this, Anonymous seeks to become the act of real justice by stopping this abusive policing acts by Sony. In retaliation, Sony will feel the "wrath" of hacker group Anonymous, and face the consequences of Sony invading the privacy of thousands of people due to Geohots actions, which is still an on going case.
- Knowledge is Free. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not Forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.
Anonymous is saying that we all deserve to know infomation, it should be free. The PSN going down for some serious maintaince is the result of the attacks of Anonymous against Sony servers. That is what they are implying by this. Sony will continue to be DOS attacked until demands are met. Their demands are the following:
- Sony must end any and all attempts to prosecute individuals trying to alter a product that they legally own.
- Sony must end all current or pending/upcoming litigation against George Hotz and any individuals behind the collected IP addresses.
- Sony must allow for end-user modification of their product, as was heavily advertised and available before the 3.21 update.
