Tutorial HOW TO: Create a lag switch

Post by Optimus Sat Jun 19, 2010 4:39 pm

    What is a lag switch?
A lag switch is literally a light switch connected to your ethernet wire that allows you to turn off and on your connection at will.

    2. What is the purpose of a lag switch?
It allows you to sort of... freeze time in the game you are playing, so that u can perform tricks or cheats while the connection is down. When you click the switch to put the connection back on, everything around you will speed forward into a present connection of what is happening, however whatever you did has an effect on the outcome.

    3. What can you do with a lag switch?
You can use lag to kill an enemy in a shooter game without him seeing you coming. While the switch is on, make the kill, turn the lag off, and your enemy should be dead. He wont even know what hit him. Do that with caution, nobody likes a cheater.
You can also perform tricks on playstation home. Here is a list of the following tricks i have found while lagging.

    1. Teleport
    2. Run at MOD speed
    3. walk on water
    4. Run through walls
    5. Appear to be on top of something you are actually not on
    6. Ride a go kart or ice skate anywhere (meaning you are locked in a dance emote while running around)
    7. Turn into a bubble machine
    and much more..

    Method #1
This video here shows you how to create a lag switch.

    Method #2
This method shows you what to do if you dont feel like creating a lag switch. Different method same concept.
HOW TO: Create a lag switch LagSwitchAlternative-1

** Keep in mind, performing method #2 will only allow you 7-10 seconds of lag time before you are booted, so although its easier to perform, it doesnt last as long as method #1 to actually create the lag switch.

** I may create a tutorial showing how to performing these lag tricks. Keep in mind I found these tricks wayyyy back and never shared them but to a few people. Some people caught on and started using lag switches too. Its already played out IMO but still cool, and you can still 'WOW' n00bs with it and perhaps some new tricks or useful ideas to use lag. Enjoy Very Happy

I like the 'Pull Ethernet Wire' method. My I.T. guy at work (who doesn't go on Home) said it should work a long time ago (and it does!) HOW TO: Create a lag switch Icon_twisted Has to be quick tho, like 5 secs...

I wish we can still do a dance slide or the never-ending butt slide in home again. However, we can still run fast and create illusions HOW TO: Create a lag switch Icon_cat

LMAO my thoughts exactly. If you haven't already heard, I'm an ass backwards asian aka reverse asian. Meesh and technology don't mix. Let alone electricity. So erm, no lag switchies for me. But cool tutorial. I always wondered how those worked Very Happy oh and i also heard you can do mod speed as well, with certain modems and a switch some of them have on there??

lol well as far as being shocked, your about 95% safe on that happening(assuming you created the switch correctly). and you are 100% safe performing the pull cord method, you'll never be shocked doing that.
Yes you can run at mod speed but its only visible on others end, you arent actually running at mod speed on your screen. I actually raced a few mods on the long boardwalk at redbull air race back in the days and used lag to win Loll. Mods have options to actually increase their speed to run around faster, which is far different from a lag switch method.

Kinky. I may want to try this. Not the shocking part, but the lag switchies. I'll have to relocate my ps3 and connect it directly since I'm normally wireless..let's hope I don't eff it up lol. How long does the effect normally take when you use it?

Instantly. As soon as u flip the switch or pull the cord. Then you have about 10 seconds to flip the switch back or plug the ethernet cable back into the router or you'll get booted offline.
