Optical Illusions Empty Optical Illusions

Post by SPADEZ Sun Aug 01, 2010 8:30 pm

As we already once said, Donald “Rusty” Rust is an artist with a repertoire as extensive as his talent. Most of you will know him for his magnificent Hidden Tiger Illusion from our archives. This time Rusty painted another optical illusion, and once again your assignment is to try and spot the hidden tiger. Don’t be fooled by all those scattered pieces, rather concentrate on the big picture instead. If you’re still having trouble, use the widget or simply step few feet away from your monitor.

Optical Illusions Moz-screenshot-12Wouldn’t bet my life on it, but comparing the styles used in both Invisible Neptune and today’s illusion – I think it’s safe to conclude that the author behind this one is great Sandro Del Prete again. Ne1 dares to disagree? Looking at the landscape, you’ll see some deer, few stumps and whole lot of everything, but how many of you have actually noticed the lil’-o-hidden lady? If you have problems seeing it, try looking at this through our very own optical illusion widget, and remember what we said about negative spaces…

If you thought 3D chalk drawings were dead, then think again! They’re back baby, and they’re here to stay! It has passed so much time since we last talked about them, the irony is we probably need to re-introduce Julian Beever, a pioneer artist when it comes to anamorphic [color:6a6f=#3366FF ! important][color:6a6f=#3366FF ! important]pavement art. Which of these few drawings you find the most realistic?
Could any of them fool you if you encountered them in real life? Which
one did you find the most interesting? Tell me, tell me…

You’ve probably seen this one already, specially if you’re following what’s hot around the net. Product designers Hyoungmin Park and Jeongmin Lee have created a tape roll with realistic looking [color:6a6f=#3366FF ! important][color:6a6f=#3366FF ! important]hinges on it. Called X-Tape, this optical illusion hinge tape gives creativity the fun-edge that it requires. I’m not positive if this is just an art exhibit, or whether this can be bought as a product. Anyone has more details?

When I stumbled upon this optical illusion, only then I realized how sexist society we really live in… Let me explain further – the picture on your right is a male version of the original Young Lady or An Old Hag illusion. Those with a keen eye for details will immediately notice how the old lady was referenced as an Old Hag, while in the same time the grumpy old man (which can be seen in this illusion) is referenced merely as a Father.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just thinking out loud Wink
Btw, can you see them both (the old man and his son) in this illusion?

Got this awesome illusion in my mailbox recently, and boy was surprised when I realized how I could actually read those strange symbols! Give it a try and report your findings. What I’m more interested in, is how the hell can our brain decrypt this!? Is it the negative spaces?
If someone is more knowledgeable regarding this topic, would be nice to
hear your idea… Those of you still struggling, here is a little hint.

What you see below is a great find by Neatorama [color:6a6f=#3366FF ! important][color:6a6f=#3366FF ! important]blog. It looks as if there are doors in a concrete wall, but actually – there aren’t any. The doors are in fact a flat mirror
designed by Sarah Dayo that creates the optical illusion of wall
opening. The only problem with today’s post, is that once you spot the
illusion there is no going back. Sarah writes:

Sometimes we cannot help but to try and catch a glimpse of the other side. Passing through the everyday spaces we inhibit, the [color:6a6f=#3366FF ! important][color:6a6f=#3366FF ! important]door half opened always stirs up a sense of seduction and curiosity within us. Inspired by these ordinary yet inexplicable moments in our daily lives, I designed a mirror that gives an illusion of a door opening on any given surface.

Can you read what the poster below says? Now try and move further away from your monitor. Read it again, what does it say now? Should be something completely different, though the message should now look more like what you could’ve seen in the first place if you are a widget user. Anyone has a clue how these hybrid optical illusions work? More examples can be found here.

I like how you can fool perceptions. Sometimes we ourselves develop inside into another world captivated within our own illusions unable deceipher the true reality.
