Actually apparently now you can sort of play games on macs, either if it's supported on mac osx, or if you have windows booted in some virtual or something. however when one thinks about it, why would one want to spend a bit for essentially a normal PC with pretty packaging (can't be denied they are fashionable).

To Vicky about skrillex and all these "celebrities" getting macs, it could also be because of it being a fashion sense. Since they got the money and probably don't have the technical know how, they assume a mac is better. But those that do have technical know how, know better and know it's better to make a machine to best suit your needs. You can also make a machine for far cheaper this way and probably just as resilient as a mac if you spend wisely on the better parts. If you buy crappy parts, expect a crappy pc. That's all it really boils down to.

As for viruses on windows, unless you use internet explorer or something you really don't get infected as much as the Apple adverts say. You really have to do it on purpose to get infected, by say downloading massive amounts of pirated software with no protection. If you just use your computer normally, you almost never get infected. I got hit with one maybe once (my fault entirely lulz), but even then I just recovered pretty easily using a boot that I backed up. No prob =P

Also you can just use linux if you don't even like windows. Mac OSX is essentially baby's version of linux (it's built off of FreeBSD that NeXT *company steve jobs worked at after leaving apple the first time* was using for their OS). When NeXT was bought by Apple, they acquired the FreeBSD based OS along with Steve *again* and that is where Mac OSX came to be. it's linux with all customization removed. So one could run something relatively smooth with a PC. Just have to have the know how

Edit: I also like to add that most PCs you buy at the store usually have crappy parts, hence why they seem to die fast. All I can say is that my current PC is 5 years old and is still going. I spent pretty good money on good parts and it was well spent.

What made them different is long history. Mac use to have PowerPC processors. A good chunk of the music development back during those times relied somewhat on the powerPC because of the timing so that was why Macs were usually favored among the music scene. But since Apple adopted intel sometime during the MacBook Air phase, so the timing that powerPC offered is no longer an option. So, basically... Apple=PC+aluminum+hipster appeal.

my source for these claims?: I know someone that had bought a mac exclusively for the PowerPC for his music production. When they removed PowerPC processors on their recent Macs, he was fuming lol. It also effectively prevented him from updating his MacOSX on his mac,since the newer OS no longer supports PowerPC based Macs. Apple for you...

Edit: I almost forgot to mention that there's also other ways... to get Mac OSX, not necessarily legal. However, it proves that macs are really just overpriced PCs. There's such a thing as "hackintosh" which is essentially a PC running Mac OSX like a normal Apple Mac. I don't mean to promote it, but it does prove the point that since Apple adopted Intel, all recent Macs are an expensive PC, nothing more.

How about final cut pro that only still for mac and Logic Pro Hackoish is nothing like Mac os poeple used thinking it is not support or updated by apple If hating on apple or mac after using hackoish that just silly

My point is that a mac is a pc, that's it. As for final cut pro, there's other programs. Just like with modeling you don't just have 3ds max to model, there are countless other programs that do it too. Same with final cut pro. It's not the one do all program. Same with photoshop, there are countless alternatives that do the job similarly or the same as photoshop. You could do similar with Adobe After Effects that you could with final cut pro and countless other programs could too. Maybe not exactly, but if you have the talent then the tool you use has no real effect on your result. One could have the most awesome and shiny hammer ever,and still build crap.

He could, but if it does eventually expire *as all tech does* he'll most probably have to replace it entirely with a newer mac. That's what his chief complaint is. It's highly unlikely that Apple will just take his powerPC and give him a new one of the same kind or fix it. He'll have to get a new Mac all together. Macs are pretty but not invincible, as all tech are freaking fragile now days.

Most computers have at most about 10 to 20 years, depends on their usage. Then eventually parts start to die out. It's just the nature of the computer. Some stick around for even longer. I've seen an old Apple II still kicking. But I doubt one can run the latest firefox on that thing lol.

My old mac 15 year old and still work I wanted Intel i anent that so i got new one. I like my shinny hammer looks better then dull one when i show it off xD V if have apple II and still works sell on eBay you get 700 easy

Your dodging the reason i said all that. My point is that the two are the same,just that one is shinier. Shiny does not equal quality. I said that mostly because of the final cut pro. I'm not saying apples are worse than PC, but that they're the same kind of thing now days. One is just pricey for brand name *Apple* and one can look dull *mine doesn't look dull, again about buying right parts...*
That all doesn't matter though, since they both do the same kind of thing. That's my point all along. If it were me I'd rather get the best parts I can get for as little money as possible. This way I could probably have more money to spend on even better parts than anticipated. Shouldn't that be the better option? It's not about who is rich and who is poor, which looks shiny and which doesn't. It should really be about getting what you really need from a computer with at the least of hassles. Apple coined this idea at their initial humble beginnings. To offer to people the cheapest and most accessible. That's how they became successful. The irony of Apple is that they turned into something they despised back during their infancy. Overpriced computers when one can get the same for more reasonable and accessible pricing.
