"Exodus, from the beginning, has always
embraced change. From just a club of a few individuals determined to
seek justice against individuals perceived as harmful to the gaming
community within PS Home, to becoming a group of glitchers, later to be
established as a tight knit clan or family... yet again, we are
changing.
PS Home for many of us (not just within Exodus) has lost its
lusture, for a great many reasons. However the most important aspect of
Exodus we all share are our fond memories and compassion for each
other. Quite a few swooters reimain in Home, some of us have all but
disappeared, while others have moved onto other games and forums.
Most
recently, CruciA has disbanded the main Exodus faction within PS Home.
Within a few days, I shall disband my faction too. As he mentioned in
our public forum, "We are family, more than a club. Exodus will always
be Exodus no matter what we go through."
In December, CruciA,
Trineon (now Lithium) and myself ventured into the ill-reputed world of
Second Life, with the intent of having a good laugh at the poor graphics
and sloppy physics. To our surprise, the truth was quite the opposite
from what we heard. Quickly, we discovered the poor graphics had more to
do with the graphics capabilities of individual PC's, and settings the
default viewer renders (which is exceedingly simple change) . As for the
physics and texture rendering we'd heard so much complaint about...
well let's just say the complaints were outdated (impressions made in
2007, after which many wonderful upgrades were made to the program).
Much
of the capabilites we had always wished for in Home was already bright
existance in SL. Fewer silly children/noobs (most of the people we
encounter are undoubtably adults, as a great deal of regions require
government issued identification to access), user generated content,
lower prices for purchased virtual goods and a currency system.
After
a very short time, it was clear to the three of us that the
possibilities for us in SL are "virtually" endless. Lithium quickly
established the first Exodus faction, in which we all share ownership.
We began becoming active in the community and joining the work force to
purchase property, products and services.
Within a short time,
we re-evaluated our goals and interests, discussing with each other what
our individual interests and goals were within this brand new world.
Unanimously, we all felt passionate about further exploration,
socialization and content deveopment!
For a few months we played
around with building objects and homes, creating avatar shapes and
skins, clothing, shoes, scripts, etc. We traded information amungst each
other and other SL users, honing our skills and developed new talents.
The learning proccess was challenging (to say the least) and fun, and
now hopefully the fruits of our labour will begin to pay off. We are now
officially in business!
Lithium and myself have recently opened
up our own stores, each under our own labels (not the main Exodus name).
I will be inviting Lithium to contribute here and share some
information about his work when he is ready. AlexGemini (aka Vlaun) has
been playing around with scripting and expresses an interest in
archetecture, which hopefully will also be shared here."
