Mashable's Ben Parr quoting anonymous sources says that the much awaited Android 2.2 Froyo update to HTC Droid Incredible will kick off on Wednesday, August 18. And if you still doubt that, then read this—Verizon employees are already installing the update on their personal Incredible phones.
Meanwhile, there’s been no official confirmation to the speculation that Froyo would facilitate 720p recording and much talked about mobile hotspot functionality in the Droid Incredible handset. According to reports, the owners of Droid Incredible might get a new start up animation.
The 2.2 update will come with some major changes in Google search and YouTube apps. It will also affect the ability for apps to direct installation onto an accompanying SD card instead of the phone's internal memory. The users can incorporate a PIN number instead of a pattern to unlock the handset. There’s voice recognition feature that enables one to add support for as many as seven new English dialects, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese.
The new update will support Flash 10.1 even though the feature may cause overheating of handset or shorter battery life. Another major advancement is in mobile’s browser, which has been made in accordance with V8 Javascript Engine, making downloading relatively speedier.
For business community users, the 2.2 update comes with a gigantic range of updates to Droid’s Exchange support as well. The Froyo enables the phones to be remotely wiped in case of loss of theft. It will certainly ward off any unknown entity from accessing the keys to the mobile info. And that’s certainly not all.
